Positives for a Breastfeeding Mother

By admin

So, in continuing with the theme I have done some research on the advantages of breastfeeding.

First, breast milk is best for your baby in terms of antibodies. A mother’s milk is specifically designed for their infant. There are some great formulas out their that are enriched with some essential proteins that mimic breast milk but no formula contains antibodies that are taylor made to keep your baby healthy and strong. This special formula has been shown to reduce a the likelihood a child will develop cancer, diabetes, allergies, and even diseases such as Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and Hodgkin’s Disease.

Secondly, when breastfeeding you are getting some skin on skin contact every time the baby eats which on average is every two hours. This not only helps the mother bond with her baby but it allows the baby to bond and feel secure.

It naturally delays the mothers fertility. That’s right girls. If you are exclusively breastfeeding your baby, frequently without supplementation you have a very low chance of getting pregnant! No birth control pills to remember just feed your baby.

Another huge plus, one that I definitely was a fan of is that you can breastfeed anytime, any place without having to worry about mixing a bottle, getting it to the right temperature and cleaning the bottles when you are done. You just find a quiet place where you feel comfortable and you are set. I can tell you that I am not the type to feel comfortable breastfeeding in public but I still found this to be an easy feet. If I was in a mall or a supermarket I would just go out to my car or find an empty dressing room. It really was quite easy. Also, you can get all kinds of different clothing that makes it easier from tank tops to shirts and they even have really cool decorative cover ups that go over your neck and provide complete coverage. If that still doesn’t work for you, you do still always have the option of pumping some milk ahead of time and then using a bottle when you are in public.

Next, as I mentioned before breast milk provides some essential antibodies. Your milk will also change as you baby grows and provide the exact formula of nutrition that your baby needs. Your body is programmed to anticipate the needs of your growing child and it provides excellent nutrition without need for supplementation.

Some huge health advantages for the mother occur as well. Research has shown that a woman who breastfeeds is less likely to develop certain types of cancer, decrease postpartum depression and it has been shown to decrease osteoporosis.

Lastly, and probably the most practical of all of the advantages is that fact that breastfeeding is FREE!! You don’t have to worry about running to the store because you don’t run out and with all the money you spend on everything else baby for examples; diapers, wipes, bibs, burp cloths, clothes etc. this can be a huge help to you wallets.
