On MSN there is an article posted from parenting.com and in the section about poop or pee in the tub … regarding the poop the article says
"clean the tub and child quickly with hot soapy water, and then finish bathing your kid," says Shu. "
Did they read what was said? Clean the child with HOT soapy water? Aren’t the kid and the child the same person…. bad choice of words to use HOT, how many stupid parents (and yes they are out there) will burn their babies using HOT water because this article said so?
Clean the tub, then clean your kid/child/baby! Seriously, where was the editor on this?

You should know how to do this hygienically and also how to keep the baby calm while you do it. We also look at the possibility of using disposable diapers as opposed to using cloth type nappies.

Abstract: Human α-herpesvirus infections are characterized by initial primary infections of variable severity followed by a period of neuronal latency that is interrupted by reactivation. Both the acquisition illness and the recurrent disease may become complicated. Although many individuals with genital herpes are relatively problem free, herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections can cause a wide range of problems. Troublesome symptoms can be effectively managed with antiviral therapy. For those individuals with relatively well-defined tolerable prodromes or occasional recurrences, and who do not have complicated disease, episodic therapy offers a useful alternative to continuous suppressive treatment. It was recently demonstrated that short courses of therapy with valaciclovir, aciclovir or…

Abstract: Bacterial vaginosis is the commonest cause of abnormal vaginal discharge in women of childbearing age, with a prevalence as high as 50% in some communities. The symptoms of discharge and offensive smell can cause considerable distress, although 50% of women are asymptomatic when diagnosed. Microbiologically the usually dominant lactobacillus flora is overwhelmed by an overgrowth of predominantly anaerobic organisms, accompanied by a rise in pH. A biofilm containing predominantly Gardnerella vaginalis and Atopobium vaginae has been described recently. Metronidazole is the antibiotic of choice for treatment, but relapse within 1 or 2 months is common. Bacterial vaginosis is a risk factor for acquisition of sexually transmitted infections including HIV, and for post-abortion endomet…

Abstract: Trichomoniasis is caused by the protozoan, Trichomonas vaginalis. It is a common, sexually transmitted infection, particularly among women where it causes a vaginal discharge. Infections in men are usually mild and transient. It has been associated with adverse pregnancy outcome and enhances HIV transmission. Molecular tests have shown the inferiority of both standard wet-film microscopy and culture methods, and their use has the potential to improve case finding and treatment. (Source: Medicine)

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone — When a mother dies in childbirth in Sierra Leone, the news spreads only in whispers: “The calabash broke.” A woman, tradition says, is like a treasured calabash gourd, and her death, while struggling to bring forth life, brings shame to her community. For that reason, the extent of maternal mortality has often been cloaked in silence. That is changing. Sierra Leone has just launched a major push to reduce maternal mortality, including free health care for pregnant and lactating women and their children under five, as part of a wider effort supported by the African Union that UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, and other partners.
