Acute appendicitis

By admin

Abstract: Acute appendicitis is one the most common causes of acute abdominal pain and the peak incidence is amongst teenagers and young adults. The diagnosis is made from salient features in the history and examination with additional guidance from appropriate imaging. Treatment is usually in the form of open or laparoscopic appendicectomy; the latter approach may be associated with an increased risk of miscarriage in pregnant patients. Antibiotic treatment alone may be successful, albeit with a risk of recurrence. Complications of appendicectomy occur frequently and the most common is wound infection. A new method for analysis of non‐pregnant uterine peristalsis using transvaginal ultrasound

By admin

ConclusionsThis study provides a simple tool for analysis of uterine peristalsis characteristics using ultrasound data. This is possible at the EMI even when the FEI is invisible or incomplete, such as during the luteal phase, when an intrauterine contraceptive device is in place, and during diagnostic or medical intervention. First‐trimester screening for trisomy 21 in Denmark: implications for detection and birth rates of trisomy 18 and trisomy 13

By admin

ConclusionThe number of T18 and T13 fetuses diagnosed before week 18 increased significantly after the introduction of a combined first‐trimester screening strategy for T21 in Denmark. In addition, the total number of fetuses diagnosed late in pregnancy and infants born with T18 or T13 decreased significantly. The national detection rate for T18 and T13 in the first trimester is comparable with detection rates found in modeled datasets and other prospective studies. Copyright © 2011 ISUOG. Role of dysfunctional maternal venous hemodynamics in the pathophysiology of pre‐eclampsia: a review

By admin

AbstractThe venous compartment has an important function in regulation and control of cardiac output. Abnormalities of cardiac output have been found in early gestational stages of both early‐ and late‐onset pre‐eclampsia. The venous compartment also maintains the balance between circulating and non‐circulating blood volumes and regulates the amount of reserve blood stored in the splanchnic venous bed. It is well known that adaptive regulation of maternal blood volume is disturbed in pre‐eclampsia. Abnormal venous hemodynamics and venous congestion are responsible for secondary dysfunction of several organs, such as the kidneys in cardiorenal syndrome and the liver in cardiac cirrhosis. Renal and liver dysfunctions are among the most relevant clinical features of pre‐eclampsia….

Attention And Love – The Main Element To Stopping Toddler Tantrums?

By admin

As parents, we have been regularly left with the difficult decision to at times be a bit difficult on our little one in the interest of child discipline. Several countries possess a lifestyle of spanking their son or daughter each and every tantrum outburst although some nations have a way of life of not even punishing their child with a light disciplinary measure like telling the little one to her room or making her stand in a small corner.
